據美國農業部食品安全檢驗署（FSIS）消息，8月19日美國FSIS發布《有關肉類、禽類、蛋品中沒有使用生物工程、轉基因成分動物飼料的自愿性標示聲明》通報（編號54-16）。在肉類、禽類、及蛋制品產品生產過程中，相關企業可以選擇自愿標注相關產品的轉基因原料使用情況。
本次規定明確指出：執法人員無需對所標示的轉基因使用情況進行確認。盡管如此，FSIS要求相關企業在自愿標示轉基因原料使用情況時，遵循第3方機構規定的標準程序。
此外，FSIS還提供下列3種標示聲稱范例供參考：1.單一原料不含轉基因原料。2.多種原料不含轉基因原料。3有機標示加“飼養過程中使用不含轉基因飼料的植物原料”。
